Welcome back to another installment of the Chicks Gold blog series! Within this week's article, we will be discussing the new Dawntrail expansion. Answering those burning questions, start with what is FFXIV Dawntrail. This is an upcoming expansion, the fifth to be brought to the MMORPG, following on from Endwalker, which was introduced two years ago. Players will make their way to Tural, the continent across the sea, to take part in the rite of succession, which determines the next leader of Tukkiyollal. Of course, there is much more to be said about this new and exciting dose of content, so let's do a deep dive into what there is to know!
New Terrain in Dawntrail
This exciting expansion brings with it a new continent for players to explore. Tural boasts a rich culture, vibrant land, phenomenal storylines, allies and, of course, some enemies to give your journey a true adrenaline rush. This new land can be found to the far west of Eorzea's shores and consists of two immense land masses called Xak Tural (north) and Yok Tural (south). Historically, These lands were at war until Gulool JaJa brought his dream of uniting the nation to reality, leaving the land as one peaceful nation.
There are two new main cities to explore, the first being Tuliyollal, a land that stretches up the face of a mountain from its coastal harbor all the way to its lofty palace. The second, Solution Nine, is a city vastly different from the former, with towering buildings and a far more futuristic appearance.
Accompanying these new cities are some more areas for players to explore in the Dawntrail expansion. Let's take a look at them:
- Urqopacha is a mountain region in Yok Tural that is inhabited by two vastly different people. Here you will find the Pelupelu, a people of child-sized stature, as well as the larger-than-life Yok Huy.
- The next area you will encounter on this adventure is Kozama'uka, found in the south of Tuliyollal. This area is a vast forest, with rivers flowing from mountains into astounding waterfalls.
- Yak T'el is the next area you will find, consisting of dense woodland that stretches across the mountain range and houses the Xbr'aal in the highlands and, in the thick canopy below, the Mamool Ja.
- The rain-starved land of Shaaloani can be found in central Tural. This is a land undergoing renovation as the people here construct new railways and uncover new treasures while they still hold onto their culture.
- Lastly, we have Heritage Found, a region brimming with lightning energies, thunder and a lack of sun. The land is instead illuminated by a purple hue, day and night.
FFXIV Dawntrail Raids
With this new expansion, players will be glad to know Dawntrail raids are going to make for some interesting new endeavors. There will be a new raid series, an Alliance raid series and some Ultimate raids. The new series will be titled the 'Arcadion,' and it is rumored to be set in the same location as Solution Nine due to the futuristic look of its setting. This raid is alleged to be unlike any other, and players will go head to head in a bid for glory. There is still a lot of speculation surrounding these events, but until July 2nd, we can't be sure. Though it is rumored that Altima and Deudalaphon are to be involved, as they are Ascians, and their mark is shown in the promotional imagery for this raid series.
The new Alliance raid series, 'Echoes of Vana'diel,' will see players stepping inside Vana'diel to explore the world of Final Fantasy that predates the XIV installment. Given that there are over 20 years of content that can be referenced and inspire this event, we're sure players are in for quite the treat once this raid series goes live. So, keep your eyes peeled for some exquisite boss battles and some fan-favorite gear that could be on the horizon.
As for the ultimate raids in-game, there is set to be at least one new one within Dawntrail titled 'Futures Unwritten,' offering players a new and challenging experience to truly put their skill to the test. The basis of this new ultimate raid stems from a retelling of the story of Ryne and Gaia's story in the Eden raid. For the completion of these raids, you can gain the title of 'Legend,' and you can expect to see some sort of cinematic narrative that bears a resemblance to the Dragonsong's Reprise raid.
FFXIV Dawntrail New Jobs
One of the most exciting prospects of this new expansion is the news of new jobs for players to embark on. But the fun doesn't stop there, as there have been additional updates to the battle system, including new actions in existing professions and a rise in the level cap, though little has been said about the details of these factors just yet. So, let's first start by dissecting the new FFXIV Dawntrail Viper:
Viper
This new profession will see you in close combat as this position flourishes in close-range combat strategies that have been passed down for generations by the Turali hunters. You'll use two one-handed weapons when taking on opponents and issue clean, quick damage. Not only that but when you finally manage to weaken your opponent, your ancestral strength will provide you with the push needed to finish off enemies and reign supreme. We're sure you're as excited as we are to get the battles underway and put the abilities of this job to the test. So, now we have a better understanding of this profession, let's take a look at the next FFXIV Dawntrail job.
Pictomancer
In almost stark contrast to the Viper, this job does not take the heavy-handed approach. Instead, you will be equipped with an enchanted brush that allows you to bring forth the manifestations of your character's mind, thrusting them into reality to be used in battle. You will be equipped with a colorful arsenal of instant-cast abilities and spells to carry you to victory—a more than exciting prospect to look forward to when Final Fantasy Dawntrail reaches our screens.
What Else is New in FFXIV Dawntrail?
In addition to all of the new content coming to the game, some improvements have also been made to already existing aspects of the game. Dawntrail in Final Fantasy brings some new graphic updates; including the likes of texture packs, shadow resolution and material qualities. All of these have been given an overhaul to make the game even more visually appealing to players. As well as diving into a new and improved visual experience, players can also enjoy some system updates, including being able to customize their items to an even more personal level. As you now will have the ability to use two different dyes on your gear and can now have the option of equipping head and face gear simultaneously.
Another exciting aspect of this expansion is that there is a new playable race, the female Hrothgar. While their species has been in-game for some time, their female numbers are significantly lower than their male counterparts, but now, you can take to the battlefield as one of these powerful and determined beings!
