Description
The Hippo is a legendary pet in Grow a Garden. It came out on November 8th, 2025 as part of the second half of the Safari Harvest Event. In the game, it is obtained from the Safari Merchant.
The Hippo has two passive abilities that help your garden. The first is Watermelon Chomber. With this ability, the Hippo will sometimes eat a Watermelon and give you bonus sheckles. There is also a chance you get the seed back after it eats. The second ability is Monsoon Beast. This lets the Hippo sometimes apply the Monsoon mutation to your plants.
The Hippo is easy to spot in your garden. It has a big body with four legs and three cube-shaped nails on each foot. Its head is cube-shaped with a semi-oblong snout, black eyes, nostrils, and ears on top. The Hippo has a hunger stat of 120,000.
Players want the Hippo because it earns extra sheckles on its own and can add the Monsoon mutation. That makes it a strong pick for anyone growing Watermelons or chasing mutations in Grow a Garden.
