Description
The Ancient wyvern shield is a magical shield in Old School RuneScape. It needs level 70 Magic and level 75 Defence to wear. You must also start the Dragon Slayer I quest. It is one of the best Magic shields in the game. When fully charged, its stats are close to the arcane spirit shield, and it has a 2% Magic damage bonus.
This shield protects you from dragonfire. It also blocks the icy breath of wyverns and frost dragons. It even makes you immune to the freezing effect of a wyvern's icy breath. No other shield of its kind does that.
The shield starts uncharged. You can charge it with fossils or numulites from Fossil Island. Each charge adds +1 to its defence bonuses, up to +50 at 50 charges. Fully charged, it gives melee and magic defence a bit higher than the dragonfire shield.
In combat, you can operate the shield to fire a freeze blast. This attack can hit around 15 damage and works up to 10 squares away, even over obstacles. It uses one charge and can be used once every two minutes.
