Description

Bear fur is an item in Old School RuneScape. Players normally get it by killing bears. Bears live in many spots, such as northeast of East Ardougne, the Wilderness, near Goblin Village, in Isafdar, east of Varrock, and north of Falador. Black bears and grizzly bears drop it every time. Some barbarians and warriors drop it too, but less often.

Bear fur matters most for quests. You need one piece during Mourning's End Part I and during Getting Ahead. It is also used in The Great Brain Robbery, where it helps make wooden cats. To make a wooden cat, you combine bear fur with a plank. This needs level 16 Construction and gives 15 XP. Bear fur can also be mixed with ripped mourner trousers and two silk to craft mourner trousers.

The examine text says "This would make warm clothing," but players cannot make any clothing from it. The fur can be sold to Baraek for 12 coins, or 20 coins with the ring of charos. It weighs 3 kg. Having bear fur ready saves time when a quest calls for it, so you can skip hunting bears and keep playing.
