Black locks are an item in Old School RuneScape. Players get them as a reward from black chests in the Shades of Mort'ton minigame. The locks come from chests of different types, including red, brown, crimson, black, and purple chests. Drop rates range from about 1 in 63 to 1 in 57, based on the chest type. Wearing a ring of wealth raises the drop rate.
Black locks are used to make a black coffin. Players cannot attach the locks by themselves. If they try, a chat message says they do not have the knowledge to do it. Instead, players must take the locks and a coffin to Dampe, who attaches them. This can be undone later with the Remove-lock option on the coffin.
Black locks are tradeable, so players can buy and sell them. They cannot be worn and do not stack in the inventory. Each lock weighs 0.283 kg. This item is a good pick for players who want a black coffin without spending time opening chests in the Shades of Mort'ton minigame.
