Description

The Bow string is a key item for training the Fletching skill in Old School RuneScape. Players attach a bow string to an unstrung bow to make a finished weapon. It works on bows from the basic Shortbow at level 5 Fletching all the way up to the Magic longbow at level 85. It can also string composite ogre bows and bow-swords.

Making bow strings yourself takes time. Each one is spun from flax on a spinning wheel, which needs level 10 Crafting. The Spin Flax spell is faster but needs level 76 Magic, level 61 Crafting, runes, and the Lunar Diplomacy quest. Buying bow strings skips all of that work, so players can focus on the fun part of fletching.

Bow strings are a smart pick for anyone leveling Fletching fast. Stringing bows gives good experience and is quick to do at a bank. Fletchers often need thousands of strings, so a big supply keeps training going without breaks.

The Bow string is a members-only item. It is tradeable and noteable, but it cannot be equipped or stacked. Each string weighs almost nothing at 0.014 kg.
