Description
The crystal key is a members-only item in Old School RuneScape. It is made by joining two key halves, a tooth half and a loop half. Key halves come from Barrows, the Gnome Restaurant minigame, Managing Miscellania, Treasure Trails, magpie implings, random events, the rare drop table, and other sources.
The key opens the crystal chest in a house in Taverley. The chest always gives an uncut dragonstone plus other items. Some possible rewards are 3 runite bars, rune platelegs or a rune plateskirt, or another crystal key half. The key disappears after one use, so a new key is needed to open the chest again. Opening the crystal chest is also a task in the medium Falador Diary.
Players can upgrade the crystal key at a singing bowl in Prifddinas. This costs 10 crystal shards and makes an enhanced crystal key. The enhanced key opens the Elven Crystal Chest, which gives rewards that are usually worth more than the Taverley chest.
The crystal key is tradeable and noteable. It is not stackable and cannot be equipped. It cannot go on the steel key ring. It weighs 0.01 kg.
