Description
The lead bar is a metal bar in Old School RuneScape. It is a members-only item that came out on 19 November 2025 with the Sailing skill. Players use it to build ships and island facilities.
Lead bars are needed for many Sailing projects. They go into ship hulls made of teak, mahogany, and camphor in raft, skiff, and sloop styles. They are also used for steel, mithril, and adamant keels, plus cargo holds, salvaging hooks, and trawling nets. Island builds like anchors, anvils, bosun's workbenches, teleport focuses, and wind catchers need them too.
Players can make a lead bar with level 25 Smithing by using two lead ore on a furnace. This gives 15.5 Smithing experience. It can also be made at the Blast Furnace or with the Superheat Item spell, which needs level 43 Magic. Superheat is the fastest way at 1.8 seconds per bar.
The lead bar is tradeable on the Grand Exchange, and it can be banked and noted. It cannot be equipped or stacked. Buying lead bars saves time for players who want to train Sailing or build ships without smelting ore themselves.
