Description

Onyx bolts (e) are rune crossbow bolts tipped with enchanted onyx in Old School RuneScape. They need a Ranged level of 61 to wield. They are members-only items, and they are tradeable, equipable, and stackable.

These bolts have a ranged strength bonus of +120, which makes them one of the strongest bolt choices in the game. Their big draw is the Life Leech special effect. When it triggers, the bolt deals 20% extra damage and heals the attacker for 25% of the total damage dealt. With the Zaryte crossbow, the extra damage rises to 32%. The effect does not work on undead monsters, since they have no life to leech.

Life Leech has a 10% chance to activate in PvP and an 11% chance in PvM. Players who have finished the Hard Kandarin Diary get better odds, with 11% in PvP and 12.1% in PvM. The effect can only trigger on a successful hit.

Players can also enchant these bolts themselves with the Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Onyx) spell at level 87 Magic, which enchants 10 bolts per cast.
