It is the best pickaxe in free-to-play worlds and the third best overall, behind the crystal pickaxe and the dragon pickaxe. It mines on a fast 3-tick cycle, so it helps players gather ore quickly and train Mining faster.
The rune pickaxe can also be used as a weapon. It needs 40 Attack to equip. It gives +26 stab, +24 crush, and a +29 strength bonus. Players who do not have 40 Attack can still use it for mining. It swings once every 3.0 seconds with a range of 1 tile.
This pickaxe cannot be made with Smithing. Players get it from shops, other players, monster drops, or as a reward from the quest Between a Rock. It is tradeable, noteable, and equipable, but not stackable. It weighs 2.267 kg. It is also needed for a Hard tier Treasure Trails clue step in the Bandit Camp in the Wilderness. It is a solid pick for any player who wants faster mining without high level gear.
