The watermelon seed is a Farming seed in Old School RuneScape. You need level 47 Farming to plant it. Each allotment patch takes 3 seeds. The crop grows in 80 minutes and gives you watermelons. Watermelons are a food item used in Cooking to make summer pies.

Planting a seed gives 48.5 Farming XP. Each watermelon you harvest gives 54.5 XP. A patch has at least 3 harvest lives, and compost can raise that to 6 with ultracompost. Magic secateurs boost your chance of extra yield by 10%.

You can pay a nearby gardener 10 curry leaves to watch your crop. Fully grown nasturtiums or white lilies in a nearby flower patch also protect watermelons from disease. There is no gardener on Harmony Island, and growing watermelons there is a task in the hard Morytania Diary.

Planting a watermelon seed is also needed for an elite clue scroll skill challenge from Sherlock. This seed is a solid pick for players training Farming or working on diary tasks and clue steps.
