Description

The Bane bar is a metal bar in RuneScape 3 made by smelting banite ore with the Smithing skill. You can smelt it at a furnace or with the Superheat Item spell. Smelting a bane bar needs level 80 Smithing and gives 21 Smithing experience. At level 81, there is a chance to smelt an extra bar without using more ore. Smelting gets 25% faster at level 86 and 50% faster at level 89.

Bane bars are used at an anvil to forge bane equipment. This includes weapons, armour, and tools, and all of them need level 80 Smithing. That makes bane bars a solid pick for players training Smithing or making high level gear.

This is a members only item. It is tradeable and noteable, and it weighs 1.814 kg. It can also be disassembled for Invention. Disassembly gives simple parts most of the time or crafted parts, with a low base junk chance of 2.3%. It sits in the planks, bars, and leather category at item level 80.

Bane metal comes from a dark purple ore found on the north coast of Gielinor, known in Fremennik legend as the Flesh of Jormungor.
