The Black helm is a medium helmet in RuneScape 3. It is made of black metal and works as tier 23 melee tank armour. You need level 25 Defence to wear it. It is the sixth strongest medium helmet in the game, so it is a solid pick for players who are still training their combat skills.
The helm gives 70.8 armour and a life points bonus of 230. It also cuts the damage you take. It reduces PvM damage by 0.46% and PvP damage by 0.8625%. It has no Prayer bonus. Like all black equipment, it cannot be made with the Smithing skill, so buying one is a simple way to get it.
In the game, the Black helm can come from Steel keys, from Tormented wraiths, and from Level 3 grid rewards. It is tradeable and light to carry at 1.814 kg. Players who train Invention can also take it apart. Disassembly gives 7.5 XP and always yields one Knightly component, which makes the helm useful even after you stop wearing it.
