Description

The box trap is a key item for the Hunter skill in RuneScape 3. Players use it to catch small animals. You lay the trap on the ground and wait for prey to walk in. When the trap works, it turns into a shaking box. Pick up the box to get your catch and your Hunter experience.

Box trapping starts at level 27 Hunter. With this trap you can catch ferrets, geckos, raccoons, and monkeys. At higher levels you can catch chinchompas, pawyas, grenwalls, and many types of skillchompas. Chinchompas can be used as a ranged weapon that hits many targets at once. Skillchompas help with other skills instead of combat.

You can make traps work better by adding bait or by smoking them with a lit torch at level 39 Hunter. Higher Hunter levels let you set more traps at the same time, up to five at level 80. The Volcanic trapper outfit raises that to six.

The box trap is light and tradeable, so it is easy to carry and share. It is a must-have tool for anyone training Hunter or hunting chinchompas in RuneScape 3.
