Description

Burnt umber is an Archaeology material in RuneScape 3. It is a natural brown pigment taken from clay. In the game, it is used to restore artefacts and can be kept in the material storage container. It is tradeable and noteable.

Players need burnt umber to restore six artefacts. These include the Backstrap loom, the Initiate's kaunake, the Offering bowl, the Reagent jar, the Ninbaradari mural, and the Fang of Kayazu. Each restore uses 18 to 30 burnt umber and gives good Archaeology XP. The Fang of Kayazu alone gives 10,111.1 XP at level 88.

In game, burnt umber comes from material caches at the Moonrise Dig Site. Digging it up needs level 66 Archaeology, and the caches respawn every 90 seconds. It also drops from other spots like Shrine debris and Cauldron debris. Buying it saves hours of digging.

Burnt umber can also be disassembled for Delicate parts, Organic parts, and Crafted parts, plus rare Historic and Classic components. It has a buy limit of 5,000, so players can stock up for big restore sessions or Invention work.
