Description

The Corrupted Chain scroll is an unlock token in RuneScape 3. When you read it, the scroll is used up and you unlock the Corrupted Chain cosmetic ability override. This override changes the animation for the Chain and Greater Chain abilities, giving them a dark, corrupted look.

The scroll is a free-to-play item, so members and non-members can both use it. It is tradeable and stackable, and it weighs nothing. It is always kept on death. It cannot be equipped, disassembled, or noted, and it cannot be turned into coins with alchemy spells. Its buy limit on the Grand Exchange is 2.

The scroll was released on 24 November 2025. Players could get it from Santa's Christmas Present during the 2025 Christmas event, which ran from 1 December 2025 to 4 January 2026. The drop rate was about 2 in 195. The Corrupted Chain override itself first came out in March 2025 as part of the Academy of Mages Treasure Hunter promotion.
