Description
The earth rune is one of the four basic elemental runes in RuneScape 3. It powers Magic spells like the earth spells in the standard spellbook and the shadow spells in the Ancient Magicks spellbook. Some spells need a lot of them. Charge Earth Orb uses 30 earth runes, more than any other spell.
Earth runes are stackable and weigh nothing, so a full stack takes up just one inventory space. Players who train Magic often burn through these runes fast, and buying a stack keeps spellcasting going without a stop.
Making earth runes by hand takes level 9 Runecrafting, an earth talisman, and trips to the earth altar north-east of Varrock. Each essence gives only 6.5 experience, so crafting them is slow. A big stack of ready-made runes skips all that work.
Earth runes can also be broken down with the Invention skill. Disassembling them gives mostly Magic parts, along with some Crafted parts and Powerful components. This makes them useful for players who want parts for gadgets, not just spells. Whether for training Magic, casting utility spells, or feeding Invention, earth runes are a core supply every mage needs.
