Description

Hellfire metal is an Archaeology material in RuneScape 3. It is a burning form of steel forged at a hellfire forge in the Infernal Source Dig Site. Demonkind use this metal to make weapons, armour, and art. It is a members-only item and requires level 36 Archaeology to obtain.

Players need hellfire metal to restore artefacts at the dig site. It is also a key ingredient for making binding contracts, which are used in Ancient Summoning. This makes it a useful material for anyone training Archaeology or working on Summoning content.

In the game, hellfire metal comes from material caches at the Infernal Source Dig Site and at Zamorak's Fortress in the God Wars Dungeon. It also drops from excavation hotspots like the Sacrificial altar, the Hellfire forge, and the Tsutsaroth remains. Higher Archaeology levels and better mattocks make it faster to dig up.

Hellfire metal is tradeable and can be stored in the material storage container. It can also be disassembled. Buying it saves time spent digging at excavation sites, so players can get straight to restoring artefacts and crafting binding contracts.
