They drop from many enemies in The Zamorakian Undercity, such as Zamorakian cultists, hellhounds, pyrefiends, waterfiends, and even Zamorak, Lord of Chaos. Normal mode drops give 2 to 4 pyroclasts, while Story mode gives 1 at lower rates.

The main use for pyroclasts is making ultracompost. One pyroclast added to a compost bin makes one ultracompost. Players can deposit 1,000 noted pyroclasts into any compost bin and get 1,000 ultracompost after about 28 hours. This makes pyroclasts a simple way to stock up on top-tier compost for Farming.

Infernus pyroclasts are members-only, tradeable, and noteable. They do not stack and cannot be worn. Each one weighs 0.092 kg.
