Description

The Magic staff is a basic two-handed magic weapon in RuneScape 3. It is a Tier 5 weapon with no combat requirements, so any player can wield it. It has 72 Ability Damage, 150 Accuracy, and a range of 8 squares. It uses the Spell-casting attack style and has an Average attack speed of 6 ticks, or 3.6 seconds.

This staff lets players cast combat spells and use magic abilities early in the game. It is a simple starting weapon for anyone training the Magic skill. It gives no armour or defensive bonuses, so it is best used for pure spell-casting.

The Magic staff is tradeable, equipable, and noteable. It weighs 2.267 kg and is always kept outside a dangerous area on death. It can also be disassembled for materials like Stave parts, Magic parts, and Imbued components.

Many players later move on to elemental staves, which have the same combat bonuses but also give unlimited runes of their element. Even so, the Magic staff is a solid first weapon for new mages. It has been part of the game since 4 January 2001, making it one of the oldest magic weapons in RuneScape.
