Description
Quintessence is an Archaeology material in RuneScape 3. It is a members-only item that is tradeable and noteable. In the game lore, it is known as the fifth element and a product of alchemy.
Players need level 91 Archaeology to obtain and use it. It comes from excavating material caches and dig sites at places like the Stormguard Citadel and the Empyrean Citadel. Higher Archaeology levels and better mattocks make excavating faster, but digging for it still takes time.
Quintessence is needed to restore many artefacts. These include the Blackfire lance, Golem heart, Golem instruction, Prototype godbow, Prototype godstaff, Chuluu stone, and Quintessence counter. Some artefacts need more than 40 quintessence each, so players often need a large supply.
It has other uses too. You need 20 quintessence to activate the 4th Orthen teleportation device at Xolo City on Anachronia. You also need 80 in total to activate the four portal platforms at the Stormguard Citadel Dig Site.
Quintessence can also be disassembled for Invention. It gives Magic parts most of the time, with a chance of Crafted parts, Powerful components, Historic components, or Classic components.
