Varlamore has brought with it yet another exciting adventure for you to sink your teeth into! The Ribbiting Tale of a Lily Pad Labour Dispute in OSRS, or thankfully, more commonly named OSRS Ribbiting Tale, is another new quest for players to explore and find their feet with the new Hardwood Farming patch. You’ll need to solve a ribbiting dispute and prevent Cuthbert from causing an all-out war, so if you’re up to the task, let’s take a look at what you’ll need to kick-start this quest.
Ribbiting Tale Requirements OSRS
As this is a very short quest, you will be glad to know the list of requirements is also very short; take a look below at what you’ll need:
- Woodcutting - Level 15
- Completion of Children of the Sun
- Any axe (A bronze axe is gained in the quest)
You’ll also be taking on Cuthbert, The Lord of Dread, a level-one opponent.
Hopping Into Action in Ribbiting Tale OSRS
Head to Locus Oasis and speak with Marcellus by the Hardwood tree path. He will be frantic and seemingly crazy as he accuses you of being in cahoots with the frogs that reside on the other side of the Oasis, claiming the frogs intend to take over the world and enslave humanity. After his outburst, make your way to the center of the Oasis, north of the grove of Teak trees and talk with the Blue Frogs, who inform you that they are simply on strike as they do not believe that Marcellus is treating them well.
So, to bring peace in Ribbiting Tale OSRS, you become the mediator between the two parties. Return to the other side of the Oasis and speak with Marcellus. He will refuse to make peace until his brain is returned and states that he will only negotiate with their leader.
Democracy In-Play
Locate two frogs, Gary and Sue and talk with them. They will inform you they have decided upon holding a general election to determine their leader; they then, albeit reluctantly, will ask you to sabotage Cuthbert, another frog's lily pad, to prevent him from winning. They cite that they have reason to believe he intends to win and take over, enslaving the humans. Before sending you to carry out the task, they will also warn you to stay out of sight of Jane and Dave, as they follow the rules meticulously.
The Art of Distraction
Locate Dave and Jane and speak to either of them. You’ll find that whoever you speak with will have set up the lily pads for the election; ask to inspect them. You will be refused, as they state it is their duty to look after them. During the conversation, they will make an offhand remark about being hungry, stating the oranges on a nearby tree look tasty. So, for your next Ribbiting Tale OSRS task, chop down the nearby orange tree, and they will both become distracted, at which point you must inspect the lily pads.
After you have done so, return to Gary and Sue, who then begin the election. This will trigger a cutscene showing Sue and Cuthbert in competition, with Sue successfully hopping to a lily pad as Cuthbert sinks beneath the water and drowns, as he has never learnt to swim.
Restoring Peace
With Sue now the leader, she will negotiate with you and name her terms. She states that if the frogs help Marcellus by eating all the flies, then he must provide the frogs with oranges. So, take this information to Marcellus, who will ask what the flies have done wrong. You must then tell him that they are plotting to kill him, and he will ask for proof of their betrayal.
So, to seal the deal in Ribbiting Tale OSRS, head back to Gary and Sue, and they will suggest you steal a possession of Marcellus and pin the theft on the flies. Make your way back to his home and search his bed for a love letter. This will reveal that he is in love with someone called Nalia, and the name is the passcode on the chest inside his house.
Open the chest, take the plushy, and then put it outside by the capybara dung at the east to act as evidence of the flies' crimes. In doing so, however, you will encounter Cuthbert, the Lord of Dread, who somehow survived the drowning at the election and attacks you. Fortunately, Cuthbert has a pitifully low level of only one, so he will be more than easy to defeat.
Following your less-than-epic battle with Cuthbert, return to speak with Marcellus. He will now agree to the terms the frogs have set. The last thing to do in OSRS Ribbiting Tale is return to Sue and Gary to bring it all to a close!

Why Can’t I Pick Up the Axe by Marcellus?
If you’re unable to acquire the axe located by Marcellus, it may be due to you having a Zombie or Soulreaper axe already in your possession. So, if you really want the Bronze axe, you’ll need to bank the others.
Is This a Member's Quest?
Yes, if you want to get in on the hopping-mad action of this OSRS adventure, you’ll need to ensure your membership is up to date. Other than that, this quest is fairly straightforward.
How Do I Access the Hardwood Farming Patch?
If you have a Fairy Ring, use code a.j.p and run southeast until you reach it. Remember, though, that you cannot use the facility if you have yet to complete this quest.
