So, let's waste no more time and get into the juicy details! Let’s start exploring the RS3 Vessel of the Harbinger quest, the third in its line.
RS3 Vessel of the Harbinger - All You Need To Know
To get a grasp on the RS3 Vessel of the Harbinger quest, you're, of course, going to need to know the requirements for completion. So, let's do that. We'll begin with the quest and skill requirements and take it from there.

- Rune Mythos
- Ghost Ahoy
- The Restless Ghost
- Priest in Peril

With that out of the way, let's move on to the item requirements for the quest.

- Bucket of Slime
- Bucket
- Ectoplasm
- Necromancy Weapons (conduit primarily)
- 11 Basic Ghostly Ink
- 2 Regular Ghostly Ink
- 4 Light Sources
Now that we've covered all requirements let's look at the enemies you'll be facing throughout this quest.
Enemies Ahead
During the RS3 Vessel of the Harbinger quest, you'll face Tortured Souls, five to be exact. These ghostly apparitions will be of level 53, and we recommend you come equipped with a Salve Amulet or Salve (e) to inflict increased damage when you come to face them.
Getting Started With the Vessel of the Harbinger RS3 Quest
Now that you've no doubt organized your inventory and got your skill requirements in order, you'll need to find the starting point of this quest. To do so, make your way to the City of Um and speak with Death. Ask the reaper about Rasial; he will tell you Necromancers often make their own vessels and how you have dealt with this before.
Death will then inform you that Necrovarus, Rasial's former apprentice, can tell you more about the mage.
Returning Favors
For the next part of our RS3 Vessel of the Harbinger quest, head to the Ectofuntus and locate Necrovarus, asking him for assistance. He will agree to help you, but only on the condition you return the favor. He will then go on to explain to you that although the Ectofuntus is, in fact, growing, its full potential is being stifled by the tortured souls outside.
Necrovarus will then tell you to slay five of these ghastly apparitions, handing you a soul urn to collect their souls. When completing Rune Mythos, you will have picked up on the fact you need to use Necromancy for kills to be counted in these tasks. The same applies here, as does the fact that, in actuality, you only need to deal 50+% (1,500) damage using Necromancy; so if you wish to make the final strike using other means, you can do so.
At this stage in our RS3 Vessel of the Harbinger quest guide, you should have your now full soul urn and a bucket of slime. Take them to worship the Ectofuntus. You'll need to ensure you have two buckets when collecting slime from the basement, as one will be destroyed during the process; if you're short on buckets, go to Alice's Farming Shop west of your location in the Ectofuntus.
When you're ready, speak with Necrovarus, and he will tell you that he can assist you with performing an empowerment ritual on the Well of Souls. The only catch is he's forgotten the incantation, and he tells you it is written in the book of Haricanto, so you must now get the book from Netty.
Locating the Book of Haricanto
The next step in our Vessel of Harbinger quest is to make your way to Netty's house. She is located just east of the Slayer Tower. The fastest way to get to the location is to use a teleport. Here are the options available to do so:
- Ring of Slaying
- Dungeoneering Cape
If you don't have access to either of these, you can teleport to Canifis lodestone, run northwest past Slayer Tower Mausoleum, and run east.
When you arrive at Netty's home, you'll realize she's not there, but you will see a pile of letters you'll need to read. Once you've done so, you'll realize you have to visit Velorina in Port Phasmatys.
You'll then have to teleport back to the Ectofuntus, pass it heading south, going by the energy barrier to Port Phasmatys. Continue northeast and speak with Velorina in the northernmost home. The conversation will be a depressing one, as she tells you Netty passed away some time ago; however, her ghost is present in The Last Call pub in the City of Um. Make your way there and locate her in the northeast corner.
After conversing, inform Netty that you need the book of Haricanto, and she will inform you it's in the chest in her home. She will provide you with her death certificate and will so that you can claim her key from the Bank of Port Phasmatys. Make your way to the bank, speak with the ghost banker using the "talk to" option, and get the key.
Next, in the quest, head back to Netty's house, unlock the chest, and Netty's skeleton will appear. You'll have to defeat it in order to obtain the book; the skeleton has immunity to damage, so you'll need to use Conjure Skeleton Warrior. This act will reduce the skeletons' self-esteem, causing them to collapse. Once you've done this, collect the book from the chest and return to the Ectofuntus to speak with Necrovarus.
One Last Ritual
Necrovarus will tell you to collect powerful slime in a bucket from the Ectofuntus; once you have done so, make your way to the City of Um ritual site. You'll then want to perform the Empower Vessel ritual. After doing so, a cutscene will play. In this cutscene, Rasial will appear to send Necrovarus away; if you don't see this cutscene, speak with Necrovarus and report back to Death to complete the quest.
