The third phase of WoW Season of Discovery is just around the corner, and we're sure you're just as excited as we are to get in amongst the action! But the question remains, what can we expect from WoW Phase 3 for SoD? Fortunately for our loyal readers, we have gone over the announcements with a fine-toothed comb to bring you the most important details regarding the upcoming April 4th adventure. We'll cover upcoming runes, class changes, items, gear, and the new WoW SoD phase 3 raid, so let's begin!
As previously announced in the second phase of SoD, the player level cap will reach an all-time high at 50, which means more zones and more dungeons for you to put your skills to the test. You'll be glad to know some of your surroundings will be familiar, such as the Stranglethorn Vale, but there are also some new zones for you to truly test your wits and weapons, such as Western Plaguelands and Tanaris.
In addition to the new areas and the raised level cap, there have been some additional changes involving leveling. For instance, the Gnomeregan world buff can not be gained beyond level 49, and Blackfathom Deep's world buff is cut off at 39. Another Season of Discovery phase 3 change you can expect is the Sunken Temple world buff that will be introduced at the beginning of the third phase.
Lastly, for the topic of leveling in Phase 3, Blizzard has addressed players' banking levels of XP turn-ins before the launch of a phase. To prevent this from being used to an advantage, there are now several XP turn-in quests that will not function quickly as a way to surpass level 40. Some examples of this are:
However, the creators do not want the game to become another tedious and tiresome grind, so several leveling update plans are in the works, and here are some things that will remain the same to assist you on your journey with SoD phase 3 in WoW:
Now that we've covered the leveling aspects of Phase 3 let's take a look at what we can expect from the raids.
The Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal'Hakkar) will receive an update and a refresh, including making it a level-up raid for those level 50 characters. Here are the details you'll need to know for the upcoming battles:
The existing seven bosses have been given somewhat of a redesign makeover, and an additional boss called the Festering Rotslime has been introduced to the rotation. You can also expect to get some new and improved rewards for your efforts within the raid; take a look below at the possibilities:
Some additional changes in the WoW SoD phase 3 Raids are that tier tokens will be altered. While the Gnomeregan token system is making a comeback, it has been improved to give more chances for players to get much-needed loot. Now, you will get the chance to obtain two different tokens, and multiple tokens will drop from each eligible boss.
Some Dungeon drops have also undergone a revamp, and the new class quest updates allow players to get their hands on all rewards instead of having to choose. But, most excitingly, there are some new dungeons to dive into within WoW Classic SoD phase 3. Check them out below:
Now that we've covered the leveling and raids, it's time to take a look at the Rune engravings within Phase 3.
With each new phase comes some exciting new content, and this time, there are new Runes to uncover, as well as new slots for Rune Engravings! Now, players can imbue their Helms, Bracers and other items with their Runes. Each class will receive six new Runes, and Warriors will receive an additional bonus one.
However, remember that not all Runes will be accessible as you level; some will be withheld until level 50 to ensure you still have something exciting to uncover.
As Runes have, of course, made an appearance in WoW Phase 3 of SoD, many players felt that they missed the freedom that came with Talen Specializations and the ability to swap their specialties. So, to provide players with the freedom they crave, these specialties have been reintroduced in phase 3.
Blizzard has taken into consideration that taking on PvP encounters with PvE gear can be problematic, so to combat this, several updates have been made. Take a look:
There have also been adjustments made to the Battle of Ashenvale PvP event to allow players to grind reputation quickly with Silverwing Sentinels and Warsong Outriders by completing the following quests daily rather than weekly:
The Blood Moon event will also be getting some new level 50 rewards and introducing a new currency, Massacre coins. The Bloodstained Commendation will be retired.
Within WoW SoD, you will be able to enter the new Nightmare Incursions World Event. This will take place across Azeroth at four portals into the Emerald Dream, which can be located in Ashenvale, Feralas, Duskwood, and The Hinterlands.
Upon entering the portals, you will be transported to the realm of corruption to battle treants, dragons, and other corrupt creatures. Some of these can be taken on solo, while others require you to get your team together. Players can enter this repeatable area from levels 25-50.
The skill cap of professions will be unlocked in phase 3, allowing players to reach 300. Additionally, specializations will be made available also, but Blizzard have left some secrets for you to uncover yourself once you enter into the action. It's also already been teased that there will be even more to come at level 60 in phase 4.
Professions will have entirely new items and gear in this phase, Epic gear for crafters who take on the quest chain, as well as some new consumables that are being teased but yet to be fully announced. What we do know in regard to the consumables is that there will be a multi-use flask for Alchemists.
There's so much to say and do in WoW; it's no wonder so many of you are left wondering about certain aspects of the game and the Season of Discovery phases. So, to combat that confusion, check out some of the most frequently asked questions below:
No, there will be an additional phase to follow. Phase three will be hitting your screens on April 4th and offering plenty of content to navigate, but fortunately, it isn't the end of the road!
Once phase three drops, players will be able to soar to level 50! If that doesn't seem good enough, phase four will be taking things a step further and reaching level 60. So ensure you get plenty of practice in phase 3, as there's so much more to come.
