The Gift Rat is a rare pet in Grow a Garden. It came out on December 6, 2025, during the Christmas Harvest Event and was found in Santa's Stash. It looks like the Mochi Mouse but with green and red colors and a red bow tied on its back. It is the third rat in the game, after the Rat Connoisseur and the Pumpkin Rat.
Its trait is called Gift Wrap. The Gift Rat sometimes eats an Apple fruit and turns it into a random Gift cosmetic. There are 6 gift variants to collect: Large, Long, Medium, Small, Tall, and Tube. These cosmetics can usually be traded with other players.
Apples are cheap and easy to grow, so this pet costs little to run. It only eats apples, so it will not touch your rare crops or event flowers. A simple trick is to fence off a small apple plot and keep the Gift Rat inside it. It has a hunger stat of 6,000.
The Gift Rat is a fun pick for collectors. It does not boost XP or Sheckles, but it turns basic apples into festive cosmetics with almost no work.
