Description

The Ancient mace is a one-handed melee weapon in Old School RuneScape. It comes from the Another Slice of H.A.M. quest and needs level 15 Attack and level 25 Prayer to wield. Its stats sit between a black mace and a mithril mace, with +16 Crush, +10 Stab, +14 Strength, and a +3 Prayer bonus.

The best part of this mace is its special attack, Favour of the War God. It uses 100% special attack energy. The hit goes through Protect from Melee. It drains the enemy's Prayer points by the full amount of the hit and gives the same amount back to you. This can even push your Prayer points above your normal maximum.

Players use this trick on a combat dummy in a player-owned house to start fights with extra Prayer points. The special attack also restores Prayer against monsters like Turoths and Kurasks, and it helps in the Nightmare Zone during a power surge. Using a prayer like Piety first makes the hit bigger and restores more Prayer.

Wearing the Ancient mace also protects you from Bandos followers in the God Wars Dungeon. It is a cheap tool with a big use.
