The Ancient staff is a one-handed magic weapon in Old School RuneScape. It is marked with the symbol of Zaros. To wield it, you need 50 Attack, 50 Magic, and the Desert Treasure quest done.
This staff can autocast spells from the Ancient spellbook and the standard spellbook. That makes it great for spells like Ice Barrage, which can freeze targets and hit players standing close together. It gives a +15 Magic attack bonus, and its high magic accuracy is why many players use it in high-level player killing.
The staff has an attack speed of 4, so it also works as a melee weapon. Its stats are close to a rune scimitar, with a bit more strength bonus.
The Ancient staff has a -1 Prayer bonus. This makes it rare and useful, since a master clue step asks for a negative prayer bonus. Only the staff and its upgraded forms have this trait.
You can also upgrade the staff. Bring it to Eblis with an ancient icon to turn it into the ancient sceptre. This change cannot be undone.
