The Ball of wool is a Crafting item in Old School RuneScape. It is made by spinning wool on a spinning wheel. This needs only level 1 Crafting and gives 2.5 experience. It is a free-to-play item that is tradeable and noteable.
Balls of wool are used to string many amulets. These include gold, sapphire, emerald, ruby, diamond, dragonstone, onyx, and zenyte amulets. They are also used to make rope, wigs, strips of cloth, and unstrung symbols. You can even use one on a kitten to keep its attention longer.
Several quests need this item. Sheep Shearer asks for 20 balls of wool. Prince Ali Rescue needs 3 to make a wig. Regicide needs 4 for a strip of cloth. Monkey Madness I, Recipe for Disaster, and Enlightened Journey each need 1.
Buying balls of wool saves time. You skip shearing sheep and spinning wool at a wheel. This is handy for quest work or for stringing large batches of amulets while training Crafting. It is a simple item, but many players need it in bulk.
