Barley seeds are Farming seeds in Old School RuneScape. You plant them in a hops patch to grow barley. You only need level 3 Farming, so these seeds are great for new players who want to train the skill early.

Each hops patch needs 4 barley seeds. The crop takes 40 minutes to grow across 4 stages. Planting gives 8.5 Farming experience, and each harvest gives 9.5 experience. A nearby gardener will watch your barley for a payment of 3 buckets of compost. Using compost also lowers the chance of disease and boosts your yield.

Barley has many uses. You can use it on a cooking range to make barley malt, which is used in brewing. You can also pay 6 barley malt to a farmer to protect your jute crop. Barley seeds can even be used to fill birdhouses as bait for Hunter training.

Bring magic secateurs or grow an attas plant in your anima patch to harvest more barley from each crop. Barley does not regrow, so plant more seeds when your patch is done.
