The Black platebody is a melee armour piece in Old School RuneScape. It goes in the body slot and needs level 10 Defence to wear. It is a free-to-play item, so any player can use it. It is also tradeable and can be noted.

This platebody gives strong defence for its level. It has +41 stab defence, +40 slash defence, +30 crush defence, and +40 ranged defence. It protects better than a black chainbody. Like all platebodies, it lowers Magic and Ranged stats, with -30 to Magic attack and -15 to Ranged attack. It weighs just under 10 kg.

The Black platebody cannot be made with the Smithing skill. In the game, it is sold by Horvik and Zenesha. It also has a use in quests. Players need one in King's Ransom, and in Heroes' Quest if they join the Black Arm Gang.

This armour is a solid pick for low level melee training and player-versus-player fights in free-to-play worlds. It gives good protection without a high Defence level, so new players can gear up fast and fight with more safety.
