Description

Broad bolts are crossbow bolts in Old School RuneScape. They have a Ranged strength bonus of +100, which is the same as adamant bolts. Many players pick them for training and everyday ranging because they hit just as hard as adamant bolts but often cost less.

You need level 55 Slayer and level 61 Ranged to use broad bolts. They can only be fired from certain crossbows, such as the rune crossbow, dragon crossbow, dragon hunter crossbow, Armadyl crossbow, and Zaryte crossbow.

Broad bolts have a special job on Slayer tasks. If you want to kill Turoths or Kurasks with Ranged, you must use broad bolts or their arrow versions. Normal bolts will not work on these monsters.

Players with 55 Fletching can also make broad bolts by adding feathers to unfinished broad bolts, after unlocking the Broader Fletching ability with Slayer reward points. At 76 Fletching, amethyst bolt tips can be added to turn them into amethyst broad bolts. This makes broad bolts a common way to train Fletching, and Ironman players use this method a lot.
