Description

The butterfly jar is a members only item in Old School RuneScape. It is used with the Hunter skill to hold butterflies or moths that you catch. The jar has little holes in the top so the insects inside can breathe.

Butterfly jars have another handy use. You can treat one with imp repellent to turn it into an impling jar. Keep in mind that a plain butterfly jar cannot hold implings on its own. It must be converted first.

Players can also make butterfly jars with a jar generator. Each jar costs one charge from the generator. In the game world, these jars are sold in four Hunter shops. You can find them in Yanille, Nardah, the Hunter Guild, and The Great Conch.

The butterfly jar is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to move and store. It cannot be equipped and does not stack in your inventory. It is very light at 0.02 kg. The item was released on 21 November 2006, and its inventory icon was updated on 25 September 2024. Its item ID is 10012. It is a simple but useful tool for any Hunter training plan.
