Description

The Cactus spine is a members-only item in Old School RuneScape. It is a Herblore ingredient and a common Farming crop. Its main use is making weapon poison+. Players combine a cactus spine with red spider's eggs to brew this strong poison for their weapons.

In the game, cactus spines come from grown cacti. Players with level 55 Farming can harvest them from the cactus patches in Al Kharid and the Farming Guild. Each spine picked gives 25 Farming experience, and checking the health of a grown cactus gives 374 experience. A cactus gives at least 3 spines per harvest, and players with level 99 Farming can expect around 10 spines on average.

Cactus spines also drop from monsters. The Kalphite Queen and Scorpia can each drop 10 noted spines. Nature implings, caught with the Hunter skill, can also hold a spine.

These spines have another handy use. Players can pay a gardener 10 cactus spines to watch over a yew tree, which keeps it safe while it grows. This makes cactus spines useful for both Herblore training and Farming runs in OSRS.
