Cave goblin wire is a metal wire made by the Dorgeshuun cave goblins in Old School RuneScape. It powers the lighting system that runs through their city of Dorgesh-Kaan. The item weighs 1 kg and has the item ID 10981.
Players use cave goblin wire with the Crafting skill. Add the wire to an empty light orb to make a filament. This turns it into a working light orb, much like a light bulb, and gives 104 Crafting experience. Finished orbs can replace broken parts of the city's magical lighting system. The wire is also needed to make a light orb for a Sherlock master clue step, and that orb is used in an elite clue step.
In the game, the wire comes from three Thieving methods. Players can pickpocket cave goblins at 36 Thieving, steal from city chests at 52 or 78 Thieving, or grab wire from the wire machine at 44 Thieving for 22 experience per success. Finishing the elite Lumbridge diary doubles the wire received. Cave goblin wire is a handy pickup for players training Crafting or working on clue steps.
