The gardening trowel is a basic Farming tool in Old School RuneScape. Farming is a members only skill, and this trowel is a key part of growing trees. It has two main uses. First, it fills a plant pot with earth from a weeded patch. Second, it plants a tree seed into that filled pot. This starts the process of growing a tree.
You need a gardening trowel to make seedlings. Each seedling recipe combines one filled plant pot with a tree seed, and the trowel is the tool that makes it work. This covers a huge range of trees, from an oak seedling at level 15 Farming all the way up to a rosewood seedling at level 92. Popular picks like willow, maple, yew, magic, and redwood seedlings all need this tool too.
