Description
Gold ore is a mining resource in Old School RuneScape. Its item ID is 444, and it can be traded on the Grand Exchange. Players mine it from gold rocks at level 40 Mining, and each ore gives 65 Mining experience. Its examine text says "This needs refining."
The main use for gold ore is smelting. At level 40 Smithing, players can smelt it into a gold bar at a furnace for 22.5 Smithing experience, or 56.2 with goldsmith gauntlets. Gold bars are then used with a mould to craft many types of jewellery through the Crafting skill.
Gold ore is one of the best items for fast Smithing training. Smelting it at the Blast Furnace with goldsmith gauntlets gives some of the fastest Smithing experience in the game. This method often averages 250,000 to 350,000 experience per hour, and top players can reach over 420,000 per hour.
Players want gold ore because it saves time. Mining it by hand is slow, and the rocks take 60 seconds to regenerate. A stack of gold ore lets players train Smithing right away or craft jewellery without spending hours at the rocks.
