You need a Herblore level of 40 to clean a grimy irit leaf. Cleaning it gives 8.8 Herblore experience. Once clean, the irit leaf is used to make useful potions. It makes super attack at level 45, super anti-poison at level 48, irit tar at level 55, and antidote++ at level 79.

Players want grimy irit leaves because they are a fast way to train Herblore. Cleaning a stack of them gives steady experience. The clean herbs then go into potions that help in combat and protect against poison.
