The Iron chainbody is a piece of body armor in Old School RuneScape. It is made of connected metal rings. Any player with level 1 Defence can wear it, so it works well for new characters who need protection right away.

This chainbody gives solid defence for its level. It offers +10 Stab, +15 Slash, +19 Crush, and +12 Ranged defence. It lowers Magic attack by 15 and Magic defence by 3, so it is not a good pick for spell casters. It weighs 6.8 kg.

The Iron chainbody is more than just armor. It is a required item for three quests: Black Knights' Fortress, King's Ransom, and While Guthix Sleeps. Players working on these quests need one in their inventory to move forward.

Players with 26 Smithing can make this chainbody by using three iron bars on an anvil with a hammer. This gives 75 Smithing experience.
