Description

Leaping salmon is a fish in Old School RuneScape. Players catch it with a barbarian rod and bait at Otto's Grotto or Mount Quidamortem. Catching it requires level 58 Fishing, 30 Strength, and 30 Agility. It also requires starting the Barbarian Training miniquest.

Each catch gives 70 Fishing experience, 6 Strength experience, and 6 Agility experience. This makes leaping salmon a solid pick for players training Fishing while adding small gains to Strength and Agility.

Leaping salmon cannot be cooked. Instead, players can cut it open with a knife. Cutting can give roe and fish offcuts, along with 10 Cooking experience when roe is received. The chance of getting roe grows with your Cooking level. Both roe and offcuts work as bait for barbarian fishing, so cutting your catch can help you save feathers and keep fishing longer.
