Description
The malediction ward is a mage-class shield in Old School RuneScape. You need at least 60 Defence to wield it. It gives a +12 Magic attack bonus, which is the fifth best in the off-hand slot. It also adds a 2% Magic damage bonus, which helps your spells hit harder.
The ward gives the same melee defence as a dragon square shield, with +50 stab, +52 slash, and +48 crush. Instead of Ranged defence, it gives +15 Magic defence. It has negative melee and Ranged attack bonuses, so it is best for mages and not for other combat styles.
The ward is made from three malediction shards. These drop from the Chaos Fanatic, the Crazy archaeologist, and Scorpia. With all three shards in your inventory, you can forge the ward at the Volcanic Forge in the far north-east of the Wilderness.
A ward upgrade kit can change the look of the shield and turn it into a malediction ward (or). This is only a cosmetic change and makes the shield untradeable. The malediction ward is a strong pick for any mage who wants better spell power and solid defence in one item.
