Description
The Maple shield is a wooden shield in Old School RuneScape. You need level 40 Defence to wear it. It is made by using a knife on two maple logs. Making it takes level 57 Fletching and gives 116.5 Fletching experience.
This shield gives solid defence bonuses. It adds +7 to Stab, +8 to Slash, +6 to Crush, +2 to Magic, and +7 to Ranged defence. It does not add any attack bonuses. These stats make it a simple choice for players who want extra protection at a mid level.
The Maple shield has another key use. It is the base item for making a green d'hide shield. Players who work on Crafting can turn this shield into ranged gear, so it is useful even after your Defence level grows.
The shield weighs about 3.1 kg, so it will not slow you down much. Pick up a Maple shield if you want a low cost off-hand item for training, or if you plan to craft a green d'hide shield later. It fits well for accounts building up their combat and skilling levels.
