The Mithril sq shield is a medium square shield in Old School RuneScape. Players often call it a mith sq. You need level 20 Defence to wear it. It is a free-to-play item, so any player can use it.
This shield gives solid defence for its level. It adds +17 Stab defence, +19 Slash defence, +15 Crush defence, and +17 Ranged defence. It has a -6 Magic attack bonus, like most metal armour. It weighs only 3.175 kg, so it is much lighter than the mithril kiteshield. That makes it a good pick if you want less weight while you train or fight.
Players with level 58 Smithing can make this shield with two mithril bars, a hammer, and an anvil. Making it gives 100 Smithing experience. It can also be bought from Raum Urda-Stein on Jatizso. Monsters drop it too. Fire giants drop it often, and ice giants, chaos dwarves, and lesser demons drop it less often.
The shield is tradeable and does not stack. It has a high alchemy value of 936 coins. It is a smart choice for low and mid level players who want good defence at level 20.
