The Ochre snelm is a members-only helmet in Old School RuneScape. It looks like a muddy yellow snail shell. Its stats are close to a steel med helm, but it has no requirements to equip. That makes it a good early helmet for any account.

This snelm reduces damage taken from snails by 4. It works well when fighting snails in areas like Mort Myre Swamp. It is a smart pick if a player does not have access to the Protect from Missiles prayer, since the damage cut is significant.

The helmet gives +7 stab, +8 slash, +6 crush, and +7 ranged defence, with -1 magic defence. It has no attack bonuses except -3 magic and -1 ranged. It weighs 2 kg and can be traded and noted.

Players can also make this helmet with the Crafting skill. It takes level 15 Crafting and a round Blamish ochre shell, and it gives 32.5 experience. After the Children of the Sun quest, it can be made with a steel dagger at a nice nest with no skill requirement. The item ID is 3331.
