The palm tree seed is a Farming seed in Old School RuneScape. Plant it in a plant pot of soil with a gardening trowel to make a palm seedling. Water the seedling and it grows into a palm sapling in about 5 minutes. Then plant the sapling in a fruit tree patch to grow a palm tree. You need level 68 Farming to plant it.
A fully grown palm tree bears six coconuts, and the tree regrows more after you pick them. You can pay a nearby gardener 15 papaya fruits to protect the tree while it grows. The tree takes six growth cycles of 160 minutes each, which is 16 hours in total. Most palm trees are fully grown within 24 hours.
Each seed gives strong Farming experience. Planting the sapling gives 110.5 XP, checking the tree's health gives 10,150.1 XP, and picking the six coconuts gives 249 XP. That adds up to 10,509.6 XP per seed if the tree lives. Checking a grown palm tree also counts toward the Ardougne Hard, Western Provinces Hard, and Karamja Elite diaries. This makes the palm tree seed a great pick for Farming training.
