The pat of butter is a food ingredient in Old School RuneScape. It is a members only item that can be traded on the Grand Exchange. It weighs 0.2 kg and is not stackable.

Players use a pat of butter on a baked potato to make a potato with butter. After the butter is added, more toppings can go on top. Butter is also used to make cheese, which needs level 48 Cooking and gives 23.5 experience.

Making butter takes time in game. A player needs level 38 Cooking and a dairy churn. Churning a bucket of milk gives 40.5 Cooking experience, and churning a pot of cream gives 22.5 experience. Turning a full load of 28 milk into butter takes about 320 seconds, so many players would rather skip the work.

Buying pats of butter saves that slow churning time. It also skips trips to dairy churns at places like Sinclair Mansion, Zanaris, or the Cooking Guild. With butter ready to use, players can top their baked potatoes or train Cooking by making cheese right away.
