Description
The red salamander is a two-handed weapon in Old School RuneScape. It is a members-only item. You need level 60 Attack, 60 Ranged, and 60 Magic to wield it. It uses tarromin tar as its ammo, and the tar is used up with each attack.
This weapon has three attack styles. Scorch is a slash attack that trains Strength. Flare is a ranged attack that trains Ranged. Blaze is a magic attack that trains Magic. This makes it a handy weapon for training more than one combat skill with a single item.
The red salamander has a slash attack bonus of +37, a magic attack bonus of +47, and a strength bonus of +49. Its strength bonus matches a rune longsword. It must be used at melee distance, but it can hit enemies over fences and on diagonal squares, so safespotting still works.
Players catch red salamanders with the Hunter skill at level 59, using a rope and a small fishing net. Catching one is also needed for the hard Ardougne Diary. Note that this is a live creature, so it will run away if it is not protected when you die.
