Description
Rubium splinters are a mining resource in Old School RuneScape. They come from rubium rocks in the Charred Dungeon on Charred Island. Mining these rocks needs level 48 Mining, and the island needs level 60 Sailing to reach. Each rock gives at least two splinters. At level 68 Mining, players can also mine rubium geodes and crack them open with a hammer and chisel to get more splinters.
The main use for rubium splinters is smithing incendiary cannonballs. At an anvil, 10 splinters and 2 smithable cannonballs make 2 incendiary cannonballs. This works with bronze, iron, steel, mithril, adamant, and rune cannonballs. Each metal has its own Smithing level and gives its own XP, from level 5 and 5 XP for bronze up to level 90 and 30 XP for rune. When fired from a ship's cannon, incendiary cannonballs have a chance to burn their targets.
Rubium splinters are a members-only item. They are stackable and tradeable, so they take up little space in the bank or inventory. They cannot be equipped or noted. Each splinter weighs 0.02 kg. They are a smart pick for players who want strong ammo for ship combat.
