The Steel chainshot cannonball is an item in Old School RuneScape. You fire it from a cannon during boat combat. It deals the same damage as a normal steel cannonball, but it also slows the target. The hit cuts the target's movement speed in half for 8 ticks, which is 4.8 seconds.
The slow effect makes this cannonball great for boat fights. A slower target is easier to chase down or escape from. You get solid damage and crowd control in one shot.
Players can also make these at an anvil. Each action uses 2 steel cannonballs and 1 chain, and it makes 2 chainshot cannonballs. You need level 35 Smithing, and you must finish the Pandemonium quest first. Each action takes 2 ticks, which is 1.2 seconds, and gives 24 Smithing experience.
Steel chainshot cannonballs sit in the middle of the chainshot line. The full range runs from Bronze up to Dragon, so steel is a good pick when you want the slow effect without paying for higher tiers. Stock up on these cannonballs and keep your cannon loaded for your next boat battle in OSRS.
