Description
The Steel kiteshield is a large metal shield in Old School RuneScape. It is the fourth-best kiteshield you can make with Smithing. You only need level 5 Defence to wield it, so it is a great pick for new players and low level accounts. It works on both free-to-play and members worlds.
This shield gives solid defence bonuses. It adds +13 Stab, +15 Slash, +14 Crush, and +14 Ranged defence. It also has a -8 Magic attack bonus and a -3 Ranged attack bonus, so it fits melee combat best.
Players with level 42 Smithing can make this shield with three steel bars, a hammer, and an anvil. Making one gives 112.5 Smithing experience. The shield is tradeable and noteable.
The Steel kiteshield has extra uses too. It is the base item for painted heraldic shields, like the Varrock and Zamorak designs, if you have level 43 Firemaking and level 16 Crafting. It is also needed for two medium clue scroll emote steps in Treasure Trails. That makes it a handy item to keep for clue hunting.
