Description
The steel bar is a smithing material in Old School RuneScape. Players use it to make steel weapons and armour at an anvil. Each bar smithed at an anvil gives 37.5 Smithing experience. With a furnace and a cannonball mould, one bar makes steel cannonballs and gives 25.6 experience. Steel bars are also used in the Mahogany Homes minigame.
Making steel bars takes work. A player needs level 30 Smithing, 1 iron ore, and 2 coal to smelt one bar at a furnace. That gives 17.5 experience. Buying bars skips the ore runs and the smelting time, so players can go straight to training Smithing or making cannonballs.
Steel bars are tradeable and noteable, but they do not stack. Each bar weighs 1.814 kg. Some monsters drop them too, like moss giants and fire giants, and steel dragons always drop 5 at a time.
A stock of steel bars is a simple way to train Smithing fast. It also helps players who craft cannonballs to sell or use with the dwarf multicannon. Get the bars you need and start smithing right away.
